My conviction is consciousness comes from the soul. In other words it’s divine in origin. Therefore I have to declare prejudice against the idea that by sufficiently developing AI it will eventually become conscious, self-aware, and sentient. For me such ideas make for a good Arnie movie plot. Especially if a bit of time travel is thrown in. At the same time that’s not to say AI is an altogether bad thing. I use it myself.
