[Verse 1]
Conditioned deep
I made a plan
Let go my hands – be free
Old habits break
Detoxicate
Recalibrate my mind
[Chorus]
I’d wipe the slate
I’d start again
Tabula rasa
Naked flame
As day were born
Such was my dream
[Verse 2]
I’d baggage shed
I’d clear my head
Transcend my prejudice
I rise above
Animal flesh
Deny my self – suppress
[Repeat Chorus]
[Instrumental]
[Verse 3]
Yet here I stand
Much as before
My predisposed remains
So seems to me
Take birth this way
Is DNA coded
[Spoken word]
DNA, not in the sense of cause, but as manifestation or expression of traits perpetuated from previous life cultivation. In this present life at least, it seems we have to now work with what we’ve got. Repression is not progressive, but if we don’t like the way we are, we can of course cultivate habits in a new direction. Bhagavad-gita, chapter 3, verse 33 states ‘Everyone follows their nature … even a wise person acts according to their own nature’ … so there you have it.
